BIO

Marcia Cole is a multimedia artist whose work has a lush, organic and sensuous surface quality and a contemporary and timeless visual encounter. Her encaustic monotypes communicate myriad meaning-as varied as the media she employs.

The resulting polychromatic strata is reminiscent of cyclic hymns, of the vibrations of human connection, and of fluxing landscapes. The bands of uniquely produced pigment suggest a natural progression and environmental awareness, conjuring imagery of untouched natural spaces. Surprising palettes and finite detail delight the viewer, while the endless significance provokes deeper thought and emotional connection.

Marcia is a resident of the Hudson River Valley, by way of her native Connecticut, and New York City. She holds a Master's Degree in Art Education and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Columbia University. She has a studio in Gardiner, N.Y., and is a member of G.O.S.T., Gardiner Open Studio Tour, www.gostartists.org, and Roost Studios in New Paltz, N.Y., www.roostcoop.org.
